Ocean City, MD Fishing Report

Well I caught a wonderful keeper this week!!! Andrea and I had an 8lb 21” baby boy, John Oughton V. All is well and we could not be any happier.

Now as far as fishing goes...not much change. The White Marlins are still biting pretty well, they seem to be stretched out all along the edge of the canyons. The dolphin have still been lurking about. We got a hand full of them everyday too. However, the tuna bite has been slow at best. It seems that the water is pretty much all the same and the past two storms have not helped at all, so now I’m hoping that the cold front that will be moving past will help. We have also fished the inshore waters and the Spanish and blues are still biting very well along with a nice bite from the Albacores which provide great action on light tackle. We are back at it on Monday and we looking forward to lots of action.

New Jersey Fishing Report

Things Shaping Up!!!

Well, we had a welcome surprise bringing 15 yellowfins back to the dock this week ! All fish were in the 55 to 70 lb range. And all  were caught on the troll in the Toms and Spencer Canyon. White and Blue Marlin continue to be littered up and down the canyon wall. Dolphin were  found mostly on weed patches or debris.

We started out this week with a trip that remains to be my personal favorite....the 46 hour overnight trip. I love these trips because it allows me a little more time to fish maybe a little further than we typically do. We started out in the Toms at 5 pm on Monday in 80 degree water on the east wall. For the most part it was uneventful but we did manage to put 2 nice yellowfin in the box. The night bite was once again uneventful  just catching a couple hammerheads. Back up on the troll in the am we didn’t see the same conditions in the Toms so continued south to the 840 to 830 line where we began to see some life. We proceeded to go 3 for 5 for some nice yellowfin. Throughout the day we continued to get our shots getting 12 with all except one being in the 60 to 70 range. It was a pleasant surprise to see such a nice class of fish again. There were also a lot of bills mixed in with the tuna but fishing our heavier tackle for the yellowfins we only managed to catch a few of the 12 we saw. Once again our night that night was uneventful with another hammerhead to boot before pulling the hook for our 86 mile trek home.

Back at the dock we had another quick turn and opted for the Spencer canyon in choppy seas. On the troll at 6 pm we missed a white before putting the hook on the SW corner of the Spencer.  At night we did manage to get a couple bites boating a nice dolphin and keeping our first sword of the season.  Up on the troll in the am we found a nice weed patch holding some nice dolphin on it which we did manage to get  about 8 to 22 lbs. Moving inshore around the 585 line in 60 fathoms, we saw some gannets working some bait. Crossing over the bait patch we got covered up in some nice yellowfins to 55 lbs boationg 3 of the 5. Headed for the barn with 2 great trips under our belt for the week.

It was a great week. We are still looking for the night bite to start but, unlike last year, we are seeing fish on the troll so it should just be a matter of days now. The bait is in every canyon we have been. Looking for the storm to maybe pull some cooler water this week. Stay tuned to next week!

Customer Feedback....

Joe pulled a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth. 5 hook ups at once. Pulled a tuna. Marlin never came tight. We boated 3 70 some lbs tunas. We will be back for a double next year with the same group.

Joe and the mates were great. Morehead here we come. See you in december. Maybe the bahamas next year.
Thank You!
