Salt Water Sportsman - Fishing the NJ Canyons with OU

OU loves to Tuna Fish! We currently run specialty Tuna Fishing Charters in five different locations. We fish for Tuna year round and also compete (and win a good bit) in many major Tuna Fishing Tournaments.

Tuna Fishing Trips

Yellowfin . Bluefin . Blackfin . Longfin . Bigeye Tuna

We have many ways of fishing for tuna and from one location to the other, techniques will vary, but we also can draw from our vast experience in all these locations. We fish year round and Tuna is one of our most sought after catches. We probably run more tuna fishing trips across all our boats and locations than anyone else in the country. From Yellowfin Tuna in the Canyons of the North East, down to Bluefin in North Carolina, Blackfin Tuna off the Florida Keys and Spring Time Yellowfin Tuna Fishing in the Bahamas, we do it all. Live Bait, Troll, Chunk, Jig. You name it we do it!

NC Tuna Fishing Trips

Some of the best big game fishing in the world lies right off the Outer Banks of NC, and Over Under Adventures is right in the middle of the action. Fall and Spring yellowfin tuna fishing out of Hatteras, North Carolina and Oregon Inlet on the Outer Banks, is some of the best around and in the spring-time the marlin also start to show up. In the Fall, you also have a shot at getting into a hot Big-Eye Tuna bite as well. In the winter, you'll find us fishing for the largest tuna of them all, the GIANT BLUEFIN, in Morehead City, NC. If it's a North Carolina Tuna Fishing Trip you are after, then you've come to the right place. Our crews have been fishing these waters for many years and know how to put you on Yellowfin, Bluefin, and BigEye Tuna. For more information visit: NC Tuna Fishing Trips

New Jersey Tuna Fishing Trips

In late June we start running day trips for Tuna. The Bluefin Tuna typically are the first to show and we can troll for them, chunk, jig, or a combination of all of the above. Our New Jersey Tuna Charters are top notch and we have a habit of putting big fish in the boat! Check out the photo at the bottom of the page, which shows our guys with both the first and second place Bluefin Tuna at the annual Jersey Shore Classic Fishing Tournament last year. Normally we depart around 4am on our New Jersey Tuna Charters, returning about the same time that afternoon. The run to the Tuna grounds is typically 40-55 miles, and our 12 hour tuna trips mostly fish inside the canyons in 30 to 50 fathoms. For a canyon fishing charter, we recommend our 16 hour or 22 hour canyon trips. They allow us enough time to get to the canyons, typically a 70 mile run, and still have plenty of fishing time. We also run long range 46 hour tuna trips out of NJ. We can target Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Longfin Tuna, and Big Eye Tuna on our Canyon Tuna Trips. MD Tuna Fishing Trips

Only 40 miles east of Ocean City, Maryland will place you smack in the middle of some of the hottest Tuna Fishing action on the East Coast. Yellowfin, Bluefin and Big Eye Tuna, also Wahoo, Dolphin Marlin, and a variety of BIG sharks including Mako, Tiger and Thresher await you in our offshore waters. Our bread and butter Tuna Trips are 12 hours and depart the dock at around 4am, returning approximately 12 hours later. We also offer overnight Tuna Fishing Trips for great nighttime chunking action for Yellowfin in the Canyons. For the diehards, we offer the best value of fishing time for the money, with our 46 hour long range trips, which allow us to go pretty much anywhere we need to go in order to find the Tuna. If they are out there, we will find them! Yellowfin, Bluefin, Longfin and Big Eye Tuna are all possible on our Maryland Tuna Fishing Trips. For more information, please visit: Ocean City Tuna Trips

FL Tuna Fishing Trips

All of our Florida locations offer good chances for Tuna Fishing and we can specifically target Tuna on any of our Florida Fishing Trips. The primary Tuna we catch in Florida are Blackfin Tuna, and typically we do these trips with light tackle and live bait. Pilchards the the most often used bait for Blackfin Tuna, although Goggle Eyes, Ballyhoo, and Cigar Minnows all work as well. Trolling for the Blackfin with feathers is also very productive. Out of both Islamorada and Key West, the Blackfin Tuna take up residence on various humps and wrecks, making them pretty reliable prey. In Ft. Lauderdale we also have the option of targeting large Yellowfin Tuna on the far side of the Gulf Stream, off of the Bahamas. The waters near Freeport, Walkers Cay, West End, and Bimini often hold good schools of Yellowfin Tuna. For more information, please visit: Florida Tuna Trips

Bahamas Tuna Fishing Trips

In the Bahamas we target Yellowfin Tuna year round. We find that Spring, Summer, and Fall is best, with the Winter being the slowest time of year. The peak season is April through July, and we fish for them out of the Abacos, Cat Island, as well as the closer islands of Bimini, West End, Freeport, and Walkers Cay. Both live baiting and trolling can be very productive with Pilchards and Cedar Plugs being the bait and lure of choice. Bahamas Tuna are very boat shy and typically we need to use light leaders and fish our spread way back in order to get the bites. When chasing them in the near Bahamas, the use of a good radar is very helpful in locating the birds that are the dead give-away that the Tuna are underneath.
